An Introduction to Current Zoology
Current Zoology (formerly Acta Zoologica Sinica, founded in 1935) is a bimonthly, peer-reviewed international journal of zoology. It publishes primary research papers in all fields of zoological sciences. Once accepted, the manuscripts will be published in less than four months. The journal has been an important medium for zoologists from China and other countries to communicate research results and discuss challenging scientific questions. It has a large readership, including the more than 12 thousand members of the China Zoological Society. Although it publishes papers in either Chinese or English languages, the journal particularly welcomes contributions in English to promote more effective scientific communication and the internationalization process of this journal.
This journal is indexed in several major indexing systems, such as Zoological Records, BIOSIS, Chemical Abstracts and Journal Abstracts. ACTA ZOOLOGICA SINICA was awarded the second prize of National Excellent Scientific Journals in 1992 and 1996, the second prize of Excellent Journals of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1985, 1990, 1992 and 1996, the second prize of Excellent Journals of China Association for Science and Technology in 1992, and the honorary title of "One-hundred Top National Journals" in 2002.
